GC Baseball Eliminated with 5-2 Loss to LaGrange in Extra Innings

The Greensboro baseball team saw its USA South championship hopes come to an end with a 5-2 loss to LaGrange on Friday in ten innings. The Pride were the #8 seed but suffered two losses to Christopher Newport and LaGrange.

LaGrange struck first with two runs in the first inning to take the early 2-0 lead. The Pride got on the board in the second inning with a run. Christian Snider led off with a double to left center. Aaron Navarro scored Snider on an RBI single down the right field line cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Greensboro threatened in the third inning with runners on second and third but could not push any runners across the plate. The Pride broke through in the seventh inning tying the game at 2-2.

Navarro got the inning going with a single to center field. Jimmy Pirro moved Navarro to second on a dropped fly ball by the second basemen. Matt Irwin tied the game at 2-2 with a double down the right field line.

The Panthers plated three runs in the tenth inning to take a 5-2 lead. The Pride tried to mount a come back in the bottom half of the inning with a runner on third but could not score him falling 5-2.

Greensboro outhit their opponets 11-6. James Feldmann led the way with four hits. Navarro, Irwin, and Parker had two hits apiece. Navarro and Irwin had one run batted in. Kristopher Peeden started the game going seven innings allowing two runs on three hits. Brian Robbett suffered the loss.

The Pride season comes to an end with a 15-24 overall record.
