GC Men’s Tennis Season Comes to an End with 5-3 Loss to Piedmont

The #5 seed Greensboro College men’s tennis team suffered a 5-3 loss to Piedmont in the USA South Tournament on Friday afternoon. The loss marks the end of the season for The Pride, who finished the year with an overall record of 7-9.

Greensboro trailed 2-1 following doubles play, with the number three team of Matthew Miller and Ian Weiner supplying an 8-6 win.

In singles competition, Zach Passman and Kyle Gatti rallied to victories at the number two and three spots. The wins pushed The Pride on top briefly by a count of 3-2.

Passman overcame a 6-4 loss in the first set with 6-2, 6-1 wins to close out the victory at two. Gatti dropped the first set 6-0, before coming back with 6-2, 6-1 wins as well, to pick up the victory at three.

The Lions, however, rallied with wins at one, four and five to come out on top with the 5-3 match decision.
