Women’s College Tennis Final – Washington and Lee 9, Guilford 0 (ODAC Quarterfinal)

LEXINGTON, Va. — Guilford College’s women’s tennis team dropped nine in its Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament Quarterfinal against Washington and Lee University Sunday. The Generals are ranked 16th in the Division III ITA National Rankings and 5th in the Atlantic South Region.

Each of Guilford’s doubles tandems lost, 8-1. Haley Andrews and Allie Guy paired at first doubles against Washington and Lee’s Chelsea Mixon and Claire Cahill. Kim Kleimeier and Natalie Sutton saw action at second doubles and Fernanda Gonzalez and Allison Hewitt played in the third position.

Andrews dropped her first singles match against the Generals’ Meghan Buell, 6-0, 3-2. Sutton lost 6-0, 5-0 at second singles. Kleimeier lost her third singles match, 6-0, 4-0. Guy and Gonzalez dropped their fourth and sixth singles matches, respectively, 6-0, 6-0. Hewitt took two games from her fifth singles opponent, Christina Douglas, 6-1, 6-1.

Guilford concluded its season with an overall record of 7-9, 4-7 against ODAC opponents.

#1 Washington and Lee continues its journey towards its 23rd conference crown and 11th consecutive, next Saturday, Apr. 27 at Virginia Wesleyan College. The Generals will face the winner of #4 Bridgewater College and #5 Virginia Wesleyan.
