HPU Women’s Basketball Adds Maja Michalska for 2013-14

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Head coach DeUnna Hendrix has inked Maja Michalska to a National Letter of Intent, head coach DeUnna Hendrix announced on Monday. Michalska will come to High Point from Piastow, Poland.

“Maja is a great addition to our HPU women’s basketball family,” said head coach DeUnna Hendrix. “Even as a freshman, she will bring a lot of maturity to our team. She has a competitive spirit and a tremendous work ethic.”

Michalska is a 5-foot, 7-inch shooting guard from Piastow, Poland. She will be a perimeter shooter for the Panthers but her high basketball IQ will allow her to also play small forward.

She has played for SKS Warszawa club basketball team, helping the squad to top-ten finishes every year since 2008 at the Polish Championships. Michalska most recently led the team to an fourth place finish at the 2012 Polish Championships as a member of the U-20 team. In 2011, as a member of the U-18 team, Michalska, helped SKS Warszawa to a third place finish at the Polish Championships.

Michalska joins Ashley Fields and Teddy Vincent in the 2012-13 recruiting class. Fields is a 5-foot-10 guard from Goose Creek, S.C. She was named one of the Top 5 seniors in South Carolina by the South Carolina High School Basketball Coaches Association. Vincent is a 5-foot-10 who earned All-District and All-Region accolades and named second-team All-West Tennessee last year.

Hendrix expects to add more recruits for the 2013-14 season.
