HPU’s Perry, Jordan Get Big South Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

Two members of the High Point University women’s lacrosse team received Big South weekly honors on Monday. Junior midfielder Alec Perry was named Big South Offensive Player of the Week and junior Jasmine Jordan was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Perry scored nine goals in three games last week to help lead High Point to a 2-1 record. She had four in HPU’s victory at Campbell last Monday and another two scores at Presbyterian on Saturday. Perry then scored three goals against Ohio State on Sunday. In addition, she tallied four ground balls and four draw controls in the three games.

Jordan amassed seven ground balls, five draw controls and four caused turnovers in three games last week. She had three ground balls and three draw controls at Campbell, followed by four ground balls against PC on Saturday. Jordan ended her week with two draw controls and a caused turnover against Ohio State on Sunday.

High Point is the No. 2 seed for the Big South Tournament and is set set to play No. 3 Longwood in the Big South Tournament semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. at Richardson Stadium in Davidson, N.C. The winner will face either No. 1 Davidson or No. 4 Liberty in the championship game on Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN3.

The Panthers stand at 8-8 overall and went 6-1 in Big South Conference play during the regular season.
