  1. THERE IS NO WAY THIS KID OUGHT TO BE SIGNING AS A FRESHMAN.

HE CAN’T BE THAT GOOD ALREADY CAN HE?

WHAT IF HE DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER?

CAN YOU EVEN SIGN AS A FRESHMAN?

    THIS IS WAY TOO EARLY!!!!!

HAVEN’T SEEN HIM PLAY. HOW GOOD IS HE REALLY?

  2. Harry Giles might just be the best high school basketball player to ever come out of this area.

    He is the real deal.

  3. Who said anything about signing? He was offered a scholarship, that’s all. This is the earliest in a player’s HS career that Roy Williams has ever offered so that’s cool. And yes, he is that good. This is not an exaggeration, he will be a guaranteed top 5 NBA draft pick in 2017. BTW, you can’t sign until the signing period of your senior year.

  4. This young man is the without a doubt, the “Real Deal Holyfield.” More substance than flash.

  5. Harry is good enough to play in the ACC today. He only needs to get stronger. So image him 3-4 years from now. He plays in the paint in HS but actually has a nice perimeter shot that should be ACC ready within the next 3 years. All Harry has to do is stay health and he will help set up his family financially for life within the next 5 years. Someone like Harry should take more out of HS than most of his peer because he will likely not have the same 3-4 year college experience that most get to enjoy. He work career will start soon after HS. Roy did the right thing by offering early. Harry’s may be a better fit in a place like Carolina versus a Kentucky. Harry also would help draw other high profile players.

  6. One other point… Harry Giles is not a product of the “hype machine”. I’ve found this to be the case in most situations. We all know the hype machine is alive and well in Greensboro.

  7. How dare any of you forecast where this kid will be in 3 years….are you freaking kidding me? The problem with youth/interscholastic athletics these days……the media hype is nauseating…..5 years this kid will set up his family’s future…..where exactly did you get this crystal ball? Btw, where can I sign my 3 year old up for AAU basketball and are there any openings at any of the private school factories in or around 2028…maybe I’ll just re-class my kid so he can have the best opportunity to set ME up for MY future…..

  8. The only one Harry should be setting up is himself. Any parent who is expecting their child to take care of their family is misguided. Take care of your own future and let your child enjoy his.

  9. In most cases I would agree with “set up for failure”. However, this young man has the size, maturity and smarts to go along with the skill. He is without a doubt the best player Ive seen play in the area. I will bet the house on this young man.

  10. Tom – what are you smoking ? Any kid that has a good relationship with their family will more than take care of their immediate family such as parents, grand parents or sisters/brothers. I am in my 40s and I would still share the lottery with my parents if I was lucky enough to hit it. Family that loves and takes care of their kids will be taken care of properly. I don’t know those around this Harry kid but the few times that I have met him – I was impressed with his attitude and how he treats people. I hope he remains the quality young man that I have experienced in the future. Don’t tatoo up your body or act like the next coming of all. There are a lot of younger players looking at his story and others like a Theo or PJ. I hope all of these kids make it into the league because it shows other younger kids a path that can be followed. Obviously it helps to have a 6’6″ plus body.

  11. There are so many ex professional athletes that are broke because they attempted to take care of their family. Should they share some of their good fortune? Yes. Should there be an expectation from the family that they will? No. I heard an interview with an athlete who said that his family knew exactly when his pay day was. If you had a son/daughter that became a doctor, would you expect them to take care of you financially? No. You should be happy that your child is successful and that should be enough.
