Remainder of Elon-Furman Softball Series Cancelled Due to Rain

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Due to steady rainfall throughout Sunday morning, the remainder of Elon softball’s Southern Conference series at Furman has been cancelled. The Phoenix and the Paladins were scheduled to complete games two and three of the series today, April 28, beginning at 11 a.m.

The Phoenix (16-30, 5-14 SoCon) and the Paladins (25-24, 8-10 SoCon) completed game one of the original three-game series yesterday, April 27, with Furman pulling out a 3-2 win. Mother Nature also affected that game due to a three-hour rain delay that forced game two to be pushed back. The Paladins jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning before the second contest was suspended due to darkness.

The Phoenix will return at home next week to wrap up its regular-season slate. Elon hosts North Carolina A&T on Wednesday, May 1, at 4 p.m. The maroon and gold then face SoCon foe Chattanooga in its final series of the regular-season next weekend, May 4-5, at Hunt Softball Park.
