Game Report on Eastern Guilford-Burlington Williams from Wednesday night

The #5 seed Bulldogs from Burlington Williams would square of in the first round of the conference tournament against the #4 seeded Eastern Guilford Wildcats. This would be the rubber match between the two. Williams would give the ball to Alan Sharpe and Eastern would throw Caleb Robinson.

In the top of the first Williams would strike first on a leadoff double from Brandon Riley. Robinson would get a strike out and then Scott Ellington would single between 3rd & Short. Runners on the corners and Riley would score on a wild pitch before Eastern could get out of the inning. Sharpe would get to work in the bottom and get a lead off out then Andrew Robinson would single and move to 2nd when Caleb Robinson would get hit by a pitch. Sharpe would settle down and strike out the next 2 batters to end the inning. The second would see both pitchers get 1-2-3 innings. Top of the 3rd would see Williams score 2 more on a leadoff error then another hit from Riley. With runners on 1st & 2nd Robinson would get the next two batter to fly out. Alan Sharpe would single to center but an error would allow both runners to score. Sharp would struggle a little in the bottom of the 3rd and would allow Eastern to score 4 to go up 1. Eastern would get a lead off single from Ben Horne then a walk to Ryan Hackett. Andrew Robinson would single to drive in Horne. Caleb Robinson would line out to short but the shortstop would try to get Andrew Robinson at first and over throw to allow Hackett to score and move Andrew to 2nd. Luke Robinson would single and move Andrew to 3rd. With runners on the corners the Wildcats would steal 2nd but a throwing error from the catcher would allow Andrew Robinson to score. Marque Johnson would get on with an error up the middle that would score Luke Robinson for the 4th run of the inning. After that Sharpe would settle in and locate well. Williams would not score in the 4th and then Eastern would add another run with a walk to Horne and an infield single by Hackett would put runners on the corners with 1 out. Andrew Robinson would get a walk then to load the bases. Caleb Robinson would get a sacrifice fly to bring home Horne. Williams would get a run in the 5th with 2 outs and Christian Miles would double then Jacob Schmederer would get on with a throwing error that would allow Miles to score. Sharpe would get a 3 up 3 down inning. The Bulldogs would tie the game in the 6th on back to back singles from Spencer Dodson and Noah Gwynn. Caleb Robinson would get the next 2 outs before Scott Ellington would double in Dodson. Sharpe would cruise through the 6th and 7th. Robinson would get a 3 up 3 down 7th too. In the 8th Austin Koonce would come in relief for the Wildcats and load the bases on 3 walks but would get out without allowing a run. Sharpe would hit the leadoff batter in the bottom half of the 8th and Koonce would sacrifice bunt and Marque Johnson would get to 3rd on the bunt. Sam Shoe would come in and strikeout 2 and would strand Johnson on 3rd. Koonce would get a 1-2-3 inning in the 9th. Ryan Hackett would get a leadoff walk and Andrew Robinson would sacrifice him over but would get on with an errant throw. Caleb Robinson would miss on a sac bunt. Luke Robinson would load the bases when he gets hit by a pitch. Marque Johnson would get a walk off single to send the Wildcats into the 2nd round.
