Game Report on Eastern Guilford’s win over Western Alamance on Thursday night

Round 2 of the conference playoffs and the 4th seeded Wildcats from Eastern Guilford would travel to 1 seed Western Alamance.

This is a rubber match between the 2 teams. Freshman Andrew Robinson would get the ball for the Wildcats and Blake Deatherage would take it for Western.

In the first inning Eastern would get 2 runs off of a lead off walk to Ryan Hackett then a sac bunt by Andrew Robinson. Then Caleb Robinson would double home Hackett. Luke Robinson would bring home Caleb Robinson for the 2nd run of the inning. In the bottom half of the first Western would get 1 back with a solo shot off of the bat of Brock Deatherage.

In the 2nd inning Eastern would push across 2 more runs. Deatherage would get the first 2 batters then Hackett would get an infield single followed by Andrew Robinson’s single. Caleb Robinson would load the bases with a walk. Luke Robinson would then deliver a 2 run single. Western would not get anything in the bottom. Western would bring in Breydan Gorham in the 3rd inning.

Both teams would go scoreless in the 3rd-5th innings.

In the top of the 6th Eastern would drive in 4 runs. Jacob Finnerty would get a single and Hackett would single behind him. A. Robinson would hit into a fielders choice then C. Robinson would get a 2 run single. Luke Robinson and Marque Johnson both would get RBI on a double and single to push the lead to 8-1. Trey Pierce would lead off the bottom 6 with a single and move up on a balk. Jay Carter would single and move Pierce to 3rd. Gorham would ground into fielders choice then A. Robinson would get the next 2 guys to pop out. One was a sac fly by Brock Deatherage.

In the 7th Western would send out Justin Garber to pitch the top of the 7th. Eastern would get 2 more runs when Hunter Ballard would get a pinch hit single followed by a single from Finnerty. Hackett would hit into a fielders choice and then A. Robinson would single home Ballard. C. Robinson would ground into another fielders choice and L. Robinson would drive in Hackett with a single. A. Robinson would go back out to pitch. Blake Deatherage would lead off with a double to left. Then a long flyball out by Hodge for the 1st out. Sam Foster would get an infield single. Then Robinson would get the next 2 guys to pop out to end the game and send the Wildcats to the Championship game with a 10-2 win.
