Greensboro College Men’s Golf in 17th of 41 Following Day One of NCAA Championships

(SANDESTIN, F.L.) — The Pride men’s golf team finished day one of the NCAA Division III National Championships in Destin, FL on Tuesday in 17th place out of 41 teams. Greensboro opened the tournament, along with 19 other teams, on the par-72, 6,636 Links Course at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The remaining 21 teams played the par-71, 6,854 yard Raven Course.

As a team, The Pride shot a score of 309, to place 11th among the 20 teams on the Links Course. Methodist leads the overall field after finishing the day with a round of 290 on the Links Course.

Scott Novicki led Greensboro with a card of 76, to break into the top-50 of the indvidual standings in a tie for 48th. Chris Cox followed at 77, while John Grimes and Nick Peoples concluded the round tied at 78. Gregory Pappas rounded out the group for The Pride.

Novicki, Cox and Grimes each recorded two birdies, with Peoples contributing one.

Greensboro will kick-off Wednesday’s second round at 7:30 a.m. on the Raven Course. Each school in 41-team field will play both courses on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the field being cut to the top 15-teams for Thursday and Friday’s final rounds.
