Game Report on Eastern Guilford at Cardinal Gibbons from last night:Wildcats win and on to Round Three

The #4 seed Eastern Guilford make the trip to Raleigh to play the #2 seeded Cardinal Gibbons. Evan Nations would take the mound for Cardinal Gibbons and Andrew Robinson would get the rock for the Wildcats.

The top of the first would see the Wildcats threaten but come up empty with the bases loaded. Andrew Robinson would get a 3 up 3 down first.

Both teams would go 1-2-3 inning in the 2nd.

In the 3rd Andrew Robinson would single and then Caleb Robinson would get on with the fielders choice. Luke Robinson would get hit by a pitch to put runners on 1st & 2nd with 2 outs. Marque Johnson would deliver an RBI single to put the Cats up 1-0. A. Robinson would walk one in the 3rd inning but that would be it. 1-0 Wildcats after 3.

Again, both teams would go in order in the 4th.

Eastern would get another run on in the 5th when Caleb Robinson would score on an error by the 2nd baseman. In the bottom of 5 Cardinal Gibbons would get a leadoff double from Dom Vellucci but A. Robinson would get the next 3 on a groundout and 2 K’s. 2-0 Cats after 5.

The 6th inning would be quiet for both teams.

Gibbons would make a pitching change in the 7th and bring in left hander John Kelly. Andrew Robinson would leadoff the inning with a first pitch double. Caleb Robinson would drive in Andrew with a single. Luke Robinson would reach on an error. Then Marque Johnson would drive home a run on a big RBI double. Johnson would move to 3rd on the throw home. Hunter Ballard would then get an sacrifice fly to bring home Johnson for the 3rd run of the inning. A. Robinson would try and finish the game but would give up a leadoff walk. Then would get the next batter to fly out. Trevor Zaruba would get a bloop single to put runners on the corner with one out. Coach Jay White would then go get Caleb Robinson to get the last 2 outs. C. Robinson would do just that on a ground out and a pop up. Wildcats win 5-0.
