Greensboro College Men’s Golf in 15th Heading into Final Round at NCAA Championships

(DESTIN, F.L.) — The Pride men’s golf team will enter the final round of the four day NCAA Division III Championships in Destin, FL on Friday in 15th place overall. One day after shooting a 297 to make the cut, Greensboro shot a 307 on the par-71, 6,854 yard Raven Course and the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

The score brings The Pride’s three-day total to 913 (309-297-307). Transylvania leads the overall field with a team score of 876 (288-291-297), and is one of only two teams to break the 300 barrier in all three rounds.

After recording 12 birdies on Wednesday, Greensboro added ten more during Thursday’s round. John Grimes had a team best three birdies to lead The Pride with a +3, 74. Grimes was even par on the day and +1 through 15, before finishing with two bogey’s in the final four holes. Nick Peoples also shot a +3, 74 on the day, with the help of an even par finish on the final nine.

Grimes now sits in a tie for 36th overall at 226 (78-74-74), while Peoples follows in a tie for 39th at 227 (78-75-74). Chris Cox ranks third on the team with a score of 234 (77-77-80). Scott Novicki is fourth at 236 (76-78-82) and Gregory Pappas rounds out the bunch at 238 (88-71-79).

Greensboro wil return to the Raven Course on Friday for the final day of action. The Pride are scheduled to tee off at 8 a.m.
