HPU Baseball Game at VMI Suspended in the Sixth Inning

LEXINGTON, Va. – Due to heavy rain and lightning in the Lexington area on Thursday night, the series opener between High Point baseball and VMI was suspended in the sixth inning. The game will resume on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., and will be followed by the originally scheduled Friday game which will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Thursday’s game was tied 1-1 when play was delayed in the bottom of the sixth inning. VMI took a lead with an unearned run in the bottom of the first and the Panthers tied the game in the top of the fourth with an RBI single by graduate student Adam Barry.

The game was delayed at 7:43 p.m., with VMI runners at first and second and one out. The contest was delayed for 51 minutes before the suspension was announced. The suspended game is the first of the season for High Point.
