NCHSAA MEN’S DUAL TEAM TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE: 1-A COMPLETE, OTHERS ARE MOVING INDOORS

Here is the update on the 23rd annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association men’s state dual team tennis championships:

Play began this morning at the Burlington Tennis Center, and the 1-A championship was completed while the 4-A final had moved into doubles when the rain came.

The 4-A will be completed at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in Greensboro, followed by the complete 2-A championship.

The 3-A final is being moved from Burlington to the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on the campus of Duke University. It was originally scheduled to start at 12:30 pm and will begin when participants have been able to make the trip there.

In the 1-A championship Saturday morning, Elkin took five of the six singles matches and rolled to a 5-1 triumph over Durham North Carolina School of Science and Math.

Tyler Macy and Ryan Schell, which won the state 1-A doubles title last weekend, swept their matches and number-one and number-two singles, respectively, to get the Buckin’ Elks going.

Elkin won a state men’s dual team tennis title for the eighth time in eight trips to the championship, but its first since 2004. The Buckin’ Elks finished a perfect 18-0 while NCSSM wound up 17-2 overall.
