Greensboro College Hires Sha McDuffie as Head Volleyball Coach

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — Former Greensboro College volleyball player and assistant coach Sha McDuffie was recently hired to lead The Pride volleyball program. A 2011 graduate of Greensboro College, McDuffie becomes the third head coach in program history, following the departure of Hall of Fame coach Jean Lojko – who coached The Pride for 31 seasons.

During her four year playing career at Greensboro College from 2007-10, McDuffie and The Pride earned 77 victories, including a 27-9 record in 2010. A two year team captain, she led the team in the 2008 and 2010 in total blocks, blocks per game, block solos, block assists and double-doubles. In 2009, McDuffie posted team highs in assists and assists per game.

She was a three-time USA South All-Conference selection, being named to the Second Team as a sophomore in 2008, Honorable Mention as a junior in 2009, and First Team following her senior campaign in 2010. McDuffie also earned the Greensboro College volleyball Coach’s Award in 2007, won the Defensive Most Valuable Player Award in 2008, and was named the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player in 2009 and 2010.

She ranks in the career top ten in double figure kills, assists, double-doubles and games played. McDuffie’s name is also inked in the single season top ten categories for kills, double-doubles and games played.

In addition to her success on the volleyball court, McDuffie also excelled in the classroom and was named to the USA South Academic All-Conference team in 2007 and 2010.

Following her playing career, she joined The Pride coaching staff for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In addition, McDuffie has also served as a Junior Olympic Volleyball Coach at the Greensboro Sportsplex since 2011.
