HPU Elevates Bryan Norris to Assistant AD for Development

Bryan Norris has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Development at High Point University, Athletic Director Craig Keilitz announced on Wednesday. Norris had been Assistant Director of Development since October.

“Bryan has been a great asset to our department and we’re very excited to see him lead our alumni relations and development efforts,” said Keilitz. “He has a head start on his relationships with our coaches, the Panther Club Board and our corporate partners. It will be exciting to see this area grow under Bryan’s leadership. He is a great representative of the High Point University culture.”

Norris will be furthering relationships with alumni and fans and fostering more involvement with HPU Athletics. He will serve as the Executive Director of the Panther Club, will collaborate with corporate partners and lead some of High Point’s special events. Norris will also work alongside the University’s Alumni Association.

“I am excited to take on this leadership role in a department that is filled with coaches and administrators who provide our student-athletes with an incredible experience,” said Norris. “Working with the Panther Club to provide the resources necessary for creating such an atmosphere will be very fulfilling.

“We will seek to build off of the foundation of support established over the past years and to strengthen our relationships with former student-athletes. We are hoping to see everyone during the alumni day events each sports program will hold this year. Engaging the people who built our programs into what can be seen today will only increase our ability produce champion students and champion athletes.”

Norris was previously a Major Gifts Officer at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., where he was responsible for designing and implementing strategies for building donor relationships and soliciting gifts to the college. He also served as Associate Director of Recreation at Loyola College in Maryland in 2011.

From 2009-11 Norris was Director of Competition for the Special Olympics in Schenectady, N.Y. Norris built a committee of local leaders in each host community who worked on behalf of Special Olympics New York to fund the competition, recruit volunteers and produce the event. Through his work, the organization was able to raise awareness by providing quality athletic competitions for individuals with intellectual disabilities across New York.

Norris worked at Pace University from 2005-08 and served in several positions, including Facilities Manager, Director of Recreation, head cross country/track & field coach and adjunct faculty member.

Norris earned his bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education in 2003 and earned a master’s in Athletic Administration in 2005, both from West Chester University. He is married to Lauren Norris, an assistant women’s lacrosse coach at HPU.
