Southeast Guilford Junior Legion falls to Davidson County 7-4

Southeast Guilford fell to Davidson County 7-4 last night in a hard fought battle .Noah Marley toed the rubber and pitched well and left the game with the lead. Thorne Alley came to relieve and did well but untimely errors and unearned runs saddled him with the loss. Lefty Jake Alexander relieved Alley with a good effort and the Falcons had the tying run at the plate with two outs. Darin Williams hard hit ball up the middle was snagged by Davidson to end the game in the bottom of the seventh.

Christian Rodriguez who played outstanding at the hot corner in the Asheboro win was 1 for 2 with a RBI against Davidson County. Justin Guy was 2 for 3 and showed his speed on the bases. Darin Williams again showed backside power with a RBI double in the gap and finished 1 for 2. Jacob Wrenn was 2 for 4 with a single and a double and picked off a runner at second base from behind the dish. ” Our pitching was not the problem but 9 errors was what made the difference. We out hit them but we will learn from our mistakes .” observed Coach Shannon Smith. Assistant Coach Chris Alley commented ” These young kids are facing varsity pitchers and learning that the high school game is quicker than middle school. They never quit and the enthusiasm in the dugout has been great.”
Southeast travels to Trinity High School to meet the High Tom Tommies at 4 pm. “The teams we have faced so far draw players from multiple schools while we only play Southeast Guilford kids. The good competition is why we love Legion baseball and these young kids will be better for it.” said Charlie Pannell.
