NCHSAA State 3-A Softball Championship: Series Even

CLASS 3-A, GAME TWO: D.H. CONLEY 6, JAY ROBINSON 4

RALEIGH— D.H. Conley erupted for six runs in the top of the fifth inning to roar from behind and beat Concord Jay Robinson 6-4 on Saturday to even the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 3-A softball championship series at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

The Vikings, who won the 2011 NCHSAA state championship, are now 23-6. The decisive game three of the series is scheduled for this afternoon at 2 pm.

Rachel Weidner was the winning pitcher and Kesler Singleton had two hits in three trips to the plate for the winners. Keleigh Romine led Jay Robinson with two hits but was the losing pitcher. Robinson now sports a 29-3 record.

Jay Robinson had come from a run down in the seventh on Friday night and grabbed an eight-inning 4-2 victory over Conley in the series opener, with soph pitcher Keleigh Romine getting the win.
