Shaylen Burnett was All-Conference the past two seasons and has been MVP of several tournaments over the past two seasons and is currently involved in off-season AAU Basketball and made her verball commitment at a tournament being held at the Greensboro SportsPlex, this weekend….

Shaylen Burnett to Elon University and she will enter ELON U in fall of 2014….Shaylen Burnett joins another Metro 4-A product in Kara Shutt(Southeast Guilford HS), who has already committed to play softball for the Elon Phoenix….

*****We expect to some outstanding games with Shaylen Burnett and the Southern Alamance Patriots as they take on Page, Dudley, Southeast Guilford and others in the rugged/tough Metro 4-A Conference….*****

  1. Shaylen will be the only high level player left in the Metro with so many of the top players transferring to New Hope Christian. The private schools have taken all the talent worth watching in boys and now girls basketball. There are zero games that I can think of that will be worth watching on the public school level locately next year.

  2. The only key match ups will be between page and southern alamance (aka paris vs. shay. It is sad however maybe these players/parents feel they will get a better opportunity. This will be interesting to revisit with all the transfers and where they end up in college.

  3. Andy we are losing some big name players to New Hope next season. Some of these players may not have told their current school coaches so I will let the process play out. The rumors that you have heard are true. The talent keeps heading to the private school ranks.
