Mitch Atkins(Northeast Guilford HS) signs contract with the Atlanta Braves

Mitch Atkins, former pitcher for the Northeast Guilford Rams, has signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves and he reported this week to the Braves Double A team, the Mississippi Braves….

Mitch went straight from high school, at NEG with the Rams, to the pros and he began his career with the Chicago Cubs and he made it all the way to the majors with the Cubs, going through Daytona, Tennessee and Iowa along the way with the Cubs, on his way to the majors….Mitch was with Class A Daytona, the Double A Tennessee Smokies and then the Triple A Iowa Cubs, before reaching the major League level with Chicago, as a reliever/relief pitcher….

Mitch also pitched with the Baltimore Orioles and with the Washington Nationals organizations and reached the major league level, with both clubs….

Mitch began this season with an Independent club in the Northeastern United States and now he is back with the Atlanta Braves and their Double A team, down in Mississippi….

Good luck to Mitch, as he will try and pitch his way back to the Majors with the Braves…….
