Southeast Guilford Junior Legion Baseball goes to (3-0) in conference play

After the storm passed thru last night the Falcons stormed to a victory over the Hi Toms by plating 11 runs on 9 hits. The JR Hi Toms scored 6 runs on 4 hits and 3 errors committed by the Falcon defense.

Southeast gave up 4 unearned runs if the first inning and were aided by a tremendous play by DJ Artis in a over the shoulder catch in center field on a deep ball to the wall. Pitcher Austin Coble settled in and pitched a great 5 innings only allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run.

In the 4th inning Forest Brothers helped the Falcons take the lead by smacking a base clearing triple with the bases loaded. Brothers scored from third on a passed ball. Ryan Stanley lined a double and stole third leaving Devin Sweet to score him with the RBI SAC fly. Avery Alley continued his hot streak with a double.

In the 5th a batter hit by a pitch and a walk allowed Forest Brothers to come to the plate. Brothers laid down a bunt and beat the throw to load the bases.Ryan Stanley hit a 3 run RBI but was thrown out trying to stretch the double to a triple. After a great pitching performance, Austin Coble turned the job over to Ryan Stanley for the final inning save. ” The team did not lose their composure when we spotted the Hi Toms four runs. Austin Coble grew some as a pitcher tonight. He faced adversity but was mature enough to make the adjustments and settle in for victory over a tough opponent.”said coach Dave Beasley.

The Falcons entertain the High Point Tommies tonight at Southeast with a 7 pm start. Southeast travels to McCrary Park in Asheboro Saturday for a 10 am match up.

“The kids enjoy playing on Astro Turf and I enjoy visiting historic McCrary Park but I think our field is one of the nicest high school fields to play on around. Our “Gamble Ground Crew” do a great job and our field was ready to go after the storm”. allowed coach Beasley.

  1. Does anyone else not notice what the SE Jr Legion team is doing for their program? Seems like a no brainer to me!
