LIVE GIRLS BASKETBALL EVENTS

It is here whether a prospective
student athlete is ready or not. It is called “Live Event”
which simply means that college coaches can come out and
evaluate prospective student athletes to see if they are the
right fit for their teams now and in the future. The younger
student athlete that are rising freshmen have time to work
on their skill sets and usually will not be strongly
considered unless that have a far superior talent or are
relativily tall. Normally every school is looking for that
really tall post player whether thay are good or not because
most feel as though they can develop them. The under six
foot players must normally possess a more polished game and
skill set to be considered early on. During this month the
rising senior players whom have not commited yet because
they feel as though or they have been led to believe that
some high major offer could be on the horizon, could
be in for a rude awakening. It could simply mean that the
respective schools have not made a decision on that student
athlete yet because they are waiting on a commitment from
another athlete that they have in mind. It never hurts to
ask the schools that are recruiting you as to where you
stand in the process. If a prospective student and
parents do not ask and assume that they are high on their
list, it could be very dissapointing come September when the
schools are not setting up Official recuiting trips for you
that they pay for you to come. It also imperative that
schools that may be hot on you can also pull the plug if you
get hurt early on during this live period. Is it fair?
Probably not, but after all its a business and this is
how coaches keep their jobs and get paid. Do not make the
mistake of thinking if you are a rising senior that this
month your stock will really rise. Normally the schools that
have been showing interest are normally the ones that will
either continue to do so or will move on
to the next. The bottom line is if a school has offered you
a scholarship and they have everything that you are looking
for in a school academically, socially etc… going ahead
and making the decision early could take the pressure off
later. Do not make the mistake of not responding to schools
that you feel as though you are greater than whether it be
D1, D2, D3 etc… One last note, if you do not have the
maturity to go to school that may be a distant away, staying
close to home may be a better idea or it could also have its
limitations in your overall development as a person in the
long run. Come the end of this month will give the rising
senior student athlete a reality check as to actually where
they really are or not. Good luck this month and much
success.

I like this article because it is direct and straight to the point. Too often many of these kids are made to believe that they are better than what they really are.
