‘Big Red’ Ethan Albright ready to coach Page softball team

He played football, basketball and baseball at Kiser and Grimsley, plus he was a ‘Big’ offensive lineman for the North Carolina Tar Heels and then he became the long-snapper for over a decade with the Washington Redskins and now he has made his move, the move from Grimsley over to Page, where he will take over and lead the Pirates’ girls softball team….

Ethan Albright, All-Metro in all three sports(football, basketball and baseball)), All-ACC in football and All-Pro in the NFL with the ‘Skins and he played in the East-West All-Stars basketball game, when he could have suited up for the football game…..

This young man has game, and now the 42 year-old is taking his game to another level and to another sport, as he will take his spot in the third base coach’s box, as the head coach of the fast-pitch girls softball team, at Page High School…..

The life-long Grimsley-man going over to Page, but hey, he feels like he has something to offer and he coached the Page JV Softball team this past season…..He will have it all to himself, up at the top, with the Page varsity in 2014…..

Now can Page talk him into helping out with other sports over there on Alma Pinnix Drive???

Any football or basketball up his sleeve for Ethan Albright, at Page??

I guess we’ll have to wait and see……

Maybe he just wants to focus on softball these days….He has two daughters and they both play, so maybe it’s just softball these next few years, for ‘Big Red’…..

But, you never know….Maybe some football and basketball coaching down the road, for the former Mr. All-Metro Conference???

Who knows, maybe some JV work for the football and basketball and then see what happens from there….

Soundd like a good find for Page Athletic Director Rusty Lee and the Page Pirates and congrats to Coach Albright, on his move to Page…..

  1. Known as ‘Big Red’ because of the bright Albright red hair and there’s dad Doug, and brothers Jon, Erik and Stuart and all were athletes back in their day….

  2. GREAT pick up for Page. Page’s coaches across the board in all sports is very very impressive. Coach Albright made it just that much better!

  3. I talked to Albright at the EF game last year, if I remember correctly he told me that he has a son playing for Lewis Center or at Mendenhall. Glad to have him at Page!!

  4. Eventhough I think this is a great fit, Not a fan of Daddy ball in HS sports. I guess it will never go away.

  5. @ kir

It would only be “daddy ball” if his son we’re allowed to play softball. Let alone, his son doesn’t even attend Page, yet.

  6. I do not know the man but sounds like he could be a good fit. I hope he knows something about softball. We need more coaches in the Metro that know the game of softball and that can get the most out of their players. Coach Norman and Coach Saligman did a great job when they came in to Western Guilford. I heard they let Coach Norman go due to budget cuts, what a shame. They had that program going in the right direction.

  7. If he is not coaching his daughters than my apologies. Definitely no daddy ball if that’s the case. As I said, good fit.
