Elon Men’s Soccer Adds Transfer Da Silva to 2013 Class

ELON, N.C. – Elon head men’s soccer coach Darren Powell announced the addition of sophomore transfer Cauê Da Silva to his 2013 recruiting class on Wednesday, July 10. A 5-foot-10 forward, Da Silva arrives from Delta State University.

“We are excited to have Cauê join us this fall,” said Powell. “Cauê is an exciting player who will give us creativity in our attack. He had a very productive freshman year and is playing well in the USL PDL league this summer. We expect him to continue his development and progress well in our program.”

As a freshman at Delta State in 2012, Da Silva was the Gulf South Conference’s Co-Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year after appearing and starting 18 games for the Statesmen. The São Sebastião do Caí, Brazil, native led the squad with 16 goals on the season, ranking seventh in NCAA Division II, and was a first team All-GSC selection. He also ranked eighth nationally in goals per game (0.89) and 14th was in points (33) and points per game (1.83).

Da Silva was also recognized as the GSC Player of the Week three times and was placed on the GSC All-Tournament team after helping the Statesmen reach the league’s championship game.

In his prep career, Da Silva competed on the E.C. Juventude and Grêmio Esportivo Riachuelo club teams in Brazil. He helped E.C. Juventude to two conference runner-up finishes as its leading scorer while earning over 30 individual medals in his career.

The son of Carlo Róger and Flávia Da Silva, Cauê plans to major in business administration at Elon.
