Margaritaville Comes to Wyndham Championship; Boardwalk Renamed “Margaritaville at the Wyndham “

MARGARITAVILLE COMES TO WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP; BOARDWALK RENAMED
“MARGARITAVILLE AT THE WYNDHAM”

GREENSBORO, N.C. – At this year’s 74th annual Wyndham Championship, to be held August 12-18, Piedmont Triad golf fans can finish a lovely cruise around the links with a visit to Margaritaville. Margaritaville fits seamlessly into the Wyndham Championship as both are about an escape from everyday life – a mini-vacation. The Wyndham is more than just a PGA TOUR event; it is an escape to a new latitude and a new attitude.

Margaritaville at the Wyndham will be located between the first hole and the clubhouse on the large covered deck that was the Wyndham Boardwalk last year and will be open for the duration of the tournament. At Margaritaville at the Wyndham, fans will be serenaded by Margaritaville’s island-inspired music on Radio Margaritaville as they enjoy an ice cold Landshark Lager, a cool concoction or a Cheeseburger in Paradise. Margaritaville at the Wyndham will also feature live music Tuesday through Sunday afternoons after play has cleared from the first hole.

“Margaritaville at the Wyndham really takes our fan amenities to a new level,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Wyndham’s “Escape to the Wyndham” ad campaign was named the PGA TOUR’s best last year; the Wyndham beach next to the 15th green is back this year. The tropical entrance and leis to spectators as they arrive will return this year, and Margaritaville at the Wyndham truly activates our tropical vacation-themed campaign like nothing else we have done. We are expecting some huge crowds around this venue especially late in the day when play is complete, and we have live music. I can’t wait to see this thing come to life; it should be a lot of fun.”

Some of the prizes at Wyndham’s “Key to Wyn” location will be Margaritaville merchandise, and fans will also be able to purchase Margaritaville products through an online retail kiosk located inside the Margaritaville at the Wyndham location. Come Monday, after the tournament is complete, fans will return to their day-to-day lives with memories of the tropics courtesy of Margaritaville at the Wyndham.

Contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the seventh-oldest event on the PGA TOUR.
