It was ‘Hopper Time’ in the bottom of the ninth inning today at NewBridge Bank Park…
The Greensboro Grasshoppers were trailing the Hagerstown Suns, 2-1 going to the bottom of the ninth and with some key hits, they were able to breakthrough and beat the Suns, 3-2…..
The game-winning RBI came off of the bat of Juancito Martinez and that was his first hit of the day and he sent the ground ball single through the infield to left, to bring Cameron Flynn to the plate with the game-winning run on Tuesday afternoon….Flynn had brought in Anthony Gomez with a double just a few minutes earlier….Gomez was on to run for Viosergy Rosa who had reached on double of his own to lead off the inning…
For most of the day the Hoppers were down 2-1 and just could not get that run back….
Not until the bottom of the ninth, when Juancito Martinez connected and the Hoppers collected the win when Martinez scored Flynn, as Martinez came up BIG with that single with two outs and Martinez was down in the count 0-2, when he got his pitch and then put it in play, with the hit that won the game….
It was ‘Hopper Time’ today at NewBridge Bank Park when they hit the bottom of that ninth inning stretch…

Suns-2-2-0…..Suns only got two hits on the day, but did get three walks, one hit-by-pitch and a Double in the top of the fourth inning and led most of the day, 2-1…….One of the Suns two runs came in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk…
Solid one inning of work by Wright for the win, but equally as good, if not better, was Matt Milroy with his three innings of middle relief going 6-8 and the only thing he allowed was a walk……Nobody else could get base today versus Milroy……
Starting pitcher Chad James of the Hoppers struggled in the 4th today, but was pretty solid the rest of way…..James gave up the two runs on two hits and both of them were Doubles and he had the four walks, the hit-by-pitch and some other details, bother him today….Milroy was the man-of-the-hour with the work he turned in on the mound today…..
Hoppers now (15-16) and the Suns set at (19-13), after today’s loss at NBBP…….Also first hit as a Hopper today for new-comer, Alex McClure….
