Elon Women’s Basketball’s Charlotte Smith to Appear on “Time Out With Sylvia Crawley”

ELON, N.C. – Head Elon women’s basketball coach Charlotte Smith is scheduled to appear on the “Time Out with Sylvia Crawley” blog/talk/radio show on Monday, August 5, at 7 p.m. The show will be making its video broadcast premiere in the episode with Smith as the guest.

“Time Out” is an Internet based radio show, which focuses primarily on the life lessons learned through sports. However, Crawley interviews guests from all career paths about their journey, highlighting any challenges and lessons along the way. The show had its inaugural radio broadcast on May 13, 2012.

“When you think about a ‘time out’ in sports, it is the period of time where you pause, assess, correct, regroup, and resume with an opportunity to perform better,” said Crawley. “I am excited about interviewing Charlotte Smith because many know about her incredible success, but it was her difficult ‘time out’ moments that forced her to pause, assess, correct, regroup, and resume with an opportunity to become the humble yet powerful force that you see at Elon University today.”

The broadcast will be available on Elon Phoenix website (elonphoenix.com) and the Fantasy Sports & Politics website (fantasysportsandpolitics.webs.com). It will also be available on the “Time Out” Facebook Page, as well as Elon Phoenix Facebook page and the Elon Phoenix Twitter account.

Crawley and Smith are no strangers as the two played collegiate basketball together at the University of North Carolina. Both were members of the 1994 NCAA National Championship team in which Smith hit a game winning three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Tar Heels a 60-59 victory over Louisiana Tech. Smith was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player after the winning shot and a championship-record 23 rebounds. Smith enters her third season as the head coach of the Phoenix in 2013-14 after leading the team to a 19-14 record in 2012-13.
