Big South Network To Stream All Live Games For Free In 2013-14

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – High Point University sports fans will be able to live stream HPU athletic events on their computers and mobile devices for free this season through the new and improved Big South Network presented by corporate partner State Farm.

The Big South Network was relaunched on August 5 along with BigSouthSports.com as part of joint venture between the conference office and WebStream Sports.

“We’re very excited about the changes to the Big South Network this year,” said HPU Athletic Director Craig Keilitz. “Having our live video free of charge will encourage many more fans to watch and the improved mobile accessibility will make it easy to enjoy High Point University sports anywhere. This is a great step for HPU Athletics and the Big South’s digital presence.”

The dynamic redesign of the site and video service offers all visitors a “one size fits all” experience that can be seen through the web browsers of phones, tablets, laptops or desktops that adapt to best fit the desired display. All major platforms are supported.

HPU fans can access live video on their mobile devices through the High Point University Panthers App which is available for free for iPhone, iPad and Android in iTunes, Google Play and the Amazon Marketplace. To get the new app, launch the App Store, iTunes, Google Play or Amazon Marketplace on your device, then search for “HPU”.

High Point University Athletics and the HPU Sports Link, a student video production and broadcasting club, collaborate to stream more than 100 High Point University home games on the Big South Network each year. As the 2013-14 season gets underway, Panther fans can look forward to catching every home game for men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball this fall.

“The Big South Conference has been a leader in the digital space ever since the inception of the Big South Network in 2005,” said Big South Commissioner Kyle Kallander. “This next generation of the BSN keeps us at the forefront in the industry in providing quality programming anytime and everywhere. We are very excited to air the 900+ annual live events that showcase our talented student-athletes on the BSN for free and on any device. We are also looking forward to our long-term partnership with WebStream Sports and TGFI, two recognized leaders in the digital industry.”

WebStream Sports, in conjunction with Indianapolis-based TGFI, hosts the fully integrated website and digital network. In addition, Webstream Sports will produce a minimum 50 Big South events covering every Conference team sport exclusively for ESPN3 in high-definition.

Viewership for the Big South Network increased annually under the previous subscription model, and now with free access for all video products, the Conference expects immediate growth. Big South corporate partner Hardee’s is also a contributing partner to the BSN’s new free viewing format.
