Elon’s Bocock Announces Addition of Tyler Engle to Women’s Softball Coaching Staff

ELON, N.C. – Elon head softball coach Kathy Bocock has announced the addition of Tyler Engle as an assistant coach to her staff today, Aug. 23. Engel arrives to Elon after serving as the graduate assistant coach at Ohio Valley University in Vienna, Ohio. Engle will work primarily with the infielders, assist Bocock on the defense and hitting and help in recruiting with associate head coach Jess Kohut.

“Tyler brings to us a very competitive edge and a love for the game,” said Bocock. “He grasps the team concept which is an important factor for our program. He also brings the experience of playing at a high level at a Division I school, so he knows the hard work and effort that goes into being successful.”

At Ohio Valley, Engle worked with the infield and was the third base coach for the Fighting Scots. Under his guidance, two players ranked among the top-10 in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in doubles.

Prior to Ohio Valley, Engle was a four-year letterman for the Ohio State baseball team as the starting shortstop. He ended his career with the Buckeyes second all-time in games started and played at the school and helped the Buckeyes reach the NCAA Regional in 2009. In NCAA Regional play, Engle reached base in all but one postseason contest and batted .455.

“I’m very happy and looking forward to the opportunity to work along side Coach Bocock and Coach Kohut,”said Engle. “Everyone whom I’ve talked to speaks very highly of Coach Bo. This is great experience to get a chance to learn from someone like her.”

Engle earned his bachelor’s in education at Ohio State in 2011 and completed his master’s from Ohio Valley in education in May 2013.
