Elon Women’s Cross Country Ranked in USTFCCCA Preseason Regional Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Elon women’s cross country team was placed 13th in the Southeast Region as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its preseason regional rankings today, Aug. 26.

This is the second consecutive year that the Phoenix has received a spot in the preseason regional poll and finished last season ranked 16th in the Southeast Region. Last week, Elon was chosen as the 2013 favorite in the Southern Conference Preseason Poll and is the highest-ranking SoCon team in the regional rankings.

The maroon and gold returns five of its top seven runners from a year ago, including 2012 all-conference performers senior Allyson Oram, junior Tereza Novtna and sophomores Elyse Bierut and Kaitlin Snapp.

The Phoenix opens its 2013 campaign on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Demon Deacon Quad in Winston-Salem, N.C.
