Greensboro College Women’s Soccer Drops Opener to Washington & Lee 3-0

The Pride women’s soccer team (0-1 overall) dropped their opening match of the 2013 campaign with an 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Generals of Washington and Lee(1-0 overall). Greensboro came out of the gate fast, putting pressure on the back line of the Generals with the first shot of the game off the boot of Elizabeth Torres.

Washington & Lee broke the scoreless tie in the 42nd minute with a goal by Katherine Rush to take a 1-0 heading into the break. The Generals added two second half goals to secure the shut-out victory for the home team.

Greensboro College was led on defense by sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Thatcher with five saves on the day. The Pride finished the game with three shots, with Elizabeth Torres, Melanie Raton, and Lauren Greeson each contributing one shot apiece for the green and white.

Greensboro will be back in action tomorrow at 1:00 pm in Bridgewater, VA as they take on the Eagles of Bridgewater College.
