College Men’s Soccer Final – Greensboro 2, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Host Greensboro College made two first-half goals stand in Friday’s 2-0 nonconference win over Guilford College in the men’s soccer season opener for both teams.

The Pride (1-0) got unassisted goals from Earl Floyd and Juan Vivas just over 17 minutes apart in the opening half. Greensboro had a 12-3 edge in shots in the first period and outshot the Quakers (0-1), 18-6, for the game.

Guilford senior goalie Michael MacVane made seven saves. The Pride’s Manbi Nyepon earned the shutout with two stops in goal.

The Quakers play an exhibition game Sunday (9/1) at William Peace University before visiting Averett University Tuesday (9/3) for a 4:30 p.m. match.
