ROME, Ga. – Rachel Bernard came off the bench and scored in the 38th minute to give Covenant College a 1-0 soccer win over Guilford College Saturday in the Berry College Invitational. The contest marked Guilford’s season opener and the first under rookie head coach Michael Shenigo.

The Quakers’ best chance came early in the second half when freshman Madalyn Carpenter put a shot on goal that was deflected away by a Covenant defender.

Covenant’s Hannah Bales played the first half and Lucy Johnson the second to share the shutout in goal. Gove finished with five saves.
