HPU Women’s Soccer Loses at William & Mary, 3-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The High Point University women’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 road decision to William & Mary on Friday night in Williamsburg, Va. Senior Jesse May made seven saves for the Panthers in the loss.

“This is a very good William & Mary team that we played tonight,” head coach Marty Beall said. “The stats might not show it, but this was a good game especially since we were missing a couple key players. I am pleased with the way the team responded to last week’s loss. They did a good job executing on a lot of the things we worked on during the week. We are very excited to play on our home field on Sunday.”

The game remained scoreless until the 56th minute when the Tribe’s Emory Camper scored to put William & Mary ahead. Camper dribbled herself into space 20-yards from goal and hit a shot into the top right corner to break the scoreless tie.

Anna Madden doubled W&M’s lead in the 77th minute with a goal off a pass from Audrey Barry and Camper added her second goal of the night in the 85th minute to bring the final score to 3-0.

High Point finished with four shots in the game, putting three on frame. Junior Sarah Sermonet led the team on the night with two shots.

The Panthers fall to 0-2-0 on the season with the loss while William & Mary improves to 1-1-1.

High Point returns to Vert Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 1, to open its home schedule with a game against Georgia Southern. The game is scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m.
