(Greensboro, NC) – The South Atlantic League announced Tuesday the recipients of the 2013 Outstanding Achievement Awards, presenting the Greensboro Grasshoppers with the prestigious Club Merit Award.

The annual award is given to recognize a ‘complete’ franchise that has demonstrated stability and success, as well as significant contributions to its community and the league. This year marks the fifth time the Grasshoppers have won the award, having previously won in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

“Our league is filled with great teams and operations, so it is a wonderful achievement to receive this honor again,” said Grasshoppers President Donald Moore. “We are extremely proud of the award and are preparing to make next year even better.”

In addition to the Club Merit Award, the Greensboro Grasshoppers will represent the South Atlantic League as its nominee for the John H. Johnson President’s Award, which is presented each year by Minor League Baseball at the Baseball Winter Meetings.

A formal presentation of the awards will be made during the South Atlantic League Fall Meetings in St. Petersburg, Florida.
