College Women’s Soccer Final – Salem 4, Guilford 1

RALEIGH, N.C. – Mackenzie Schmidt scored twice and Tarryn Bundy added a goal and two assists in Salem College’s 4-1 soccer win over Guilford College Saturday in the Meredith College Classic.

Schmidt scored off a Bundy assist in the 29th minute to get the Spirits on the board and Morgan Canepa tallied 10 minutes later, which spotted Salem to a 2-0 halftime lead.

Bundy opened the second-half scoring with a goal from Stephanie Hubbard. Schmidt and Bundy combined on Salem’s fourth and final score in the 52nd minute.

Guilford’s Cassie Vaughn scored in the 74th minute for the Quakers (0-4). Abby Gove made a game- and career-high 12 saves in goal.

Kenzie Rathe had two stops for Salem (2-0).

Guilford concludes play in the tournament at Meredith Sunday at noon.
