GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Wesleyan College broke open a close game at halftime with three quick goals in the second half en route to a 7-0 win over Guilford Saturday afternoon at the Armfield Athletic Center in the second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game for both schools.

Kerry Knauss and Kaitlyn Clunan each scored twice for the Marlins (5-1-,2, 2-0 ODAC), with Knauss getting the game’s first goal at 11:56 of the first half. Clunan opened the scoring in the second half when she took a beautiful pass from Allie Ketzler to score on a breakaway

Virginia Wesleyan, ranked sixth in this week’s NSCAA Division III South Atlantic Poll, controlled the action throughout the game. Goalkeeper Megan Gerhart got her fifth win of the season and did not need to stop a single shot.

Guilford (0-9, 0-2 ODAC) goalkeeper Abby Gove set a career-high with 17 saves in the contest. Caitlyn Young also saw time in net and made several nice stops in her 19:17 of action.

The Quakers return to action Wednesday afternoon when they host Hollins in a game scheduled for a 4:00 pm start.
