Women’s Soccer: Hollins 2, Guilford 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Alyx Pelkey scored the only goal of the second half to lift Hollins University to a 2-1 win over Guilford in women’s soccer in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tilt Wednesday afternoon at the Armfield Athletic Center.

The Quakers (0-10, 0-3 ODAC) jumped out to the early lead when Leticia Benitez fired in a shot from the right side. Caroline Bishop assisted on the goal, Guilford’s third of the season. Six minutes later Hollins (2-5, 0-2 ODAC) tied the game with a goal by Meg Moritz.

Becca Logan finished with two assists for Hollins, which won for the first time in 27 games against the Quakers. Megan Mckee made five saves and picked up the win while Abby Gove stopped nine shots in a losing effort.

Guilford returns to action Saturday in an ODAC battle at Bridgewater.
