Greensboro College Student Athletes Named to 50th Anniversary Football Team

Fayetteville, N.C. – The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current League institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has begun the release of these 50th Anniversary teams with the sport of football, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed 30 Bishop players on the squad.

Football is the youngest USA South-sponsored sport on the men’s side as the Conference sponsored its first year in the fall of 2001. In the fall of 2000, no team title was awarded, but the league kept statistics and awarded an All-Conference team. Play has always been competitive within the Conference, as evidenced by the fact that the regular season championship has been shared on eight occasions.

Greensboro College started their football program in 1997, and since them have earned twenty-four first team all-conference nominations. Greensboro has also received two rookie of the year awards, as well as one coach of the year award in 2012.
