High School Football Saturday Morning rewind:Four Unbeatens Remain and lots of links

We only have four unbeaten teams remaining in Guilford County and here they are:

Dudley(5-0)
Northern Guilford(5-0) now riding a 34-game winning streak
Southeast Guilford(5-0)
Eastern Guilford(5-0)…..

Eastern has to be the most surprising team in the bunch….

Tight game for Eastern last night up at Madison, as they got past McMichael 20-18…The old song used to say, ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, but there should be NO sleeping on this team now, and the Wildcat fans really do have something to roar about….Dudley keeps leaving opposing teams in their tracks and they will have Southern Alamance, Page and Southeast Guilford waiting for them and Dudley faces Smith at home in two weeks, October 11….And speaking about Southern Alamance, if there was any doubt before, now we know the Patriots are for real and Johnathan Lloyd is one of the best backs around, from last night’s action:
Southern Alamance- 49 (5-1)
Graham- 35 (1-5)
Johnathan Lloyd with 5 passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.

Southeast Guilford is a happy bunch right now and they have a right to be…..SEG can run that football and they are mixing in the pass these days, as we saw last night….Their junior QB Bubba Craven is doing a very good job of running the offensive show down at Forest Oaks and SEG is throwing the football….I am not making this up, the Falcons are putting the ball in the air…Not real long passes, but the ball is going up and coming down, as a forward pass….The runners are extremely strong with Shakir Turner, CJ McThay and Khaleed Boswell showing flashes of power and speed and when you have kids like Kevin Brown(356 pounds) and T.J. Williams(290) pounds doing the up front blocking, you take at least a yard or two on every carry….On the defense, with big #99 and #95 and I know that is Barnes, Rawls and Mace and more, plus the DB Greg Liggs picked off three Southwest Guilford passes last night….Count them, that is three interceptions in one game and he had two steals/picks in one quarter….

I was at the SEG-SWG game last night and very impressive for Southeast, and I was also taken in by RB/WR/DB Rick Mack for Southwest Guilford…Mack had one called back and that was a ripping run of 68 yards….He only stands at 5’8/160, but there is no slack in Mack, the kid can attack….

SEG at Page on October 11, they have Southern Alamance looming and they close out the regular season at home with Dudley….

Northern Guilford….The Nighthawks with that 34-game winning streak…..I was the guy that announced over the PA system, at Eastern Guilford last Friday night, that Northern had lost up at Reidsville, but we had received a text that had Reidsville winning the game in OT, but in reality, NG came on to win that one, #33 in Double OT…Northern just keeps on winning and they left no doubt about it last night, with that BIG road win at Western Alamance…What was that final? 30-7??? Like we said earlier, this team just keeps on winning….Next up, I think it is Eastern Alamance and that will be another test, and if they get by that one, pretty much smooth sailing the rest of the way through the Mid-State 3-A, OK? Well wait just a minute, there is that matter of the Northern Guilford-Eastern Guilford game and I do believe that one is coming up on October 11…So many big games on that night….Nighthawks still rolling for now….

High Point Central has to be feeling like they got hit by a ‘Mack’ truck and their quarterback is Jamiel Mack….But back-to-back one point losses?? Current phrase many folks use, but we will use it here too, “Are you kidding me”??? Falling down 14-13 to West Forsyth and then what was it last night, 34-33 to Page….You have to give the Page Pirates and their ‘Mighty Mouse/Man” Jalen Gavin a lot of credit, the Pirates would not quit or throw in the towel last night….Kept on fighting and kept on coming back….Lots of Pirates feeling pretty good this morning….

Northwest Guilford still feeling good at (5-1) on the season….Would love to see a game and it would have to be a playoff game with NWG vs. Southeast Guilford….We could start the clock and just let it run and we would be done by 8:15, after a kickoff at 7:30….Both of these teams love to run the football….Runningback by committee and they have got a load to choose from…..

That is most of the big stuff from last night and before we hit the links, it was real nice to see Ragsdale get back in the win column last night and the High Point Andrews Red Raiders just keep on moving along in the right direction….

  1. Eastern – Hires quality coach, is 5-0
Northeast – Hires non-quality coach, (even interviewed the Eastern hire) and is 1-4

Great work being done out that by the NE Administration
