Men’s Soccer: Bridgewater 3, Guilford 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford picked up two red cards three minutes apart late in the first half and playing two men down for over half of the game, the Quakers fell to Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Bridgewater, 3-0, in a men’s soccer game Saturday night at the Armfield Athletic Center.

At the 22-minute mark of the first half, Ben Lewis put Bridgewater (4-3-2, 1-0-1 ODAC)on top. Guilford was never able to tie the game thanks to picking up the two cards.

Max Chacon and Adrian Zamora added second-half goals for the Eagles, who easily controlled most of the action after intermission. Kevin Morris turned back all three shots he faced to pick up the win.

The Quakers (4-4-1, 2-2 ODAC) put up a valiant effort while playing shorthanded but they could not crack the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Michael MacVane made eight saves and was under heavy pressure the final 45 minutes.

Guilford returns to action next Saturday with a road tilt against Virginia Wesleyan.
