Men’s Soccer: Greensboro College Pride Fall To Bishops in 2 OT 3-2

ROCKY MOUNT, NC—The Greensboro College Pride men’s soccer team fell to NC Wesleyan in overtime on Sunday by a final score of 3-2.

After a scoreless first half, John Bruni got The Pride on the board in the 64th minute to give Greensboro a 1-0 lead. However, The Bishops would respond back just 52 seconds later to tie the score a 1-1. Later in the half, Wesleyan would take a 2-1 lead beforeShaun Watt would beat The Bishop’s keeper to the left corner to tie the score back up and force the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, Greensboro continued to press but could not get anything going. With just 11 minutes left in the second overtime period, The Bishops Alex Mansaray would get a shot by Manbi Nyepon to give Wesleyan the victory.

Nyepon earned five saves for Greensboro in goal, while Bruni led The Pride with two shots in the game including one goal.

For Greensboro, they will fall to 4-4-2 overall on the season, and 1-2 in USA South play. Greensboro will return to action on Wednesday, October 2nd when they travel to Newport News, VA to play The Captains of Christopher Newport. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
