Greensboro College Football Falls To Ferrum 31-21

FERRUM, VA – The Greensboro College Pride football team fell to The Panthers of Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 31-21.

In the first quarter, Ferrum would take a 7-0 lead on the first possession of the game with a seven yard touchdown run for the only score of the quarter.

In the second quarter, The Panthers capped off their first drive of the second quarter with a 39 yard touchdown pass to go up 14-0. However The Pride would not give up. After going down 14-0, Greensboro would use a 11 play 58 yard drive capped off by Warren Scott Jr, with a 9 yard touchdown run to cut the score in half 14-7. With 21 seconds to go in the first half, The Panthers hit a 25 yard field goal attempt to go into the half up 17-7.

To start out the second half, neither team was able to find the end zone on their first drive of the new half. On the second drive of the second half, The Pride used their offensive weapons again, when quarterback Ryan Throndset finding his tight end Tripp Honeycutt for a 19 yard touchdown strike to make the score 17-14. Later in the quarter, after a Ferrum touchdown, Greensboro found the end zone for the third and final time of the day when Scott plunged in the end zone for his second touchdown of the day making the score 24-21.

After Greensboro’s final score of the day, Ferrum would use seven more points in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

The Pride was led by Julian Cinotti with 12 tackles on the day, including one for loss. Greensboro also had a big day on defense by Ethan Smith who contributed 10 tackles with one for loss.

With the loss, Greensboro will fall to 1-4 overall at the season’s half way point and 0-2 in USA South play. After a three game road trip, Greensboro will return back home next Saturday, October 12 when they welcome The Hawks of Huntingdon to Jamieson Stadium. Kick off for the game is slated for 1:00 pm.
