Greensboro College Women’s Soccer Tops Meredith 2-1

GREENSBORO, NC– The Greensboro women’s soccer team (3-5-1, 2-2-1 USA South) defeated Meredith (6-3-4, 4-2-1 USA South) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Pride trailed 1-0 going into half before using two second half goals to come from behind.

Meredith found the back of the net at the 28:13 mark in the first half taking the early 1-0 lead. The score remained the same going into the half.

The Pride came out halftime attacking, getting on the board at 59:39 when Mary Randolph flicked a ball into the box that found the foot of Melanie Raton, evening the score at 1-1. Greensboro scored again at 68:52 when Raton got the game winner, after a deflection found her head winning 2-1.

Jessica Thatcher picked up the win in goal with four saves. Raton led the way with two shots on goal.

After the game Coach Spooner said,” again I am really proud of our play under difficult situations, and to keep pulling out great results. I am looking forward to the second half of the season.”

The Pride will return to action on Saturday, October 12 at Huntingdon. The kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
