College Women’s Swimming News – Guilford Picked Ninth in ODAC Preseason Poll

Greensboro, N.C. — Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) swimming coaches picked Guilford College ninth in the league’s preseason poll. Six-time defending ODAC champion Washington and Lee University topped the nine-team poll, receiving 64 points and eight first-place votes.

Quakers’ head coach Emily Wilson starts her third season at Guilford with six letter winners back from last year’s team, which placed ninth at the 2013 ODAC Championships. Guilford returns senior backstroke and distance freestyle specialist Kendra Medina, who holds eight top-five times in school history in three different events. Junior Julia Sheehan returns as Guilford’s top butterfly specialist. Also returning is junior Morgan McKinnon, who had the Quakers’ best breaststroke times in the 2012-13 campaign.

Guilford takes to the pool to open its eighth swimming season Oct. 11-12 at the Converse Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.

This year’s ODAC Championships are slated for Feb. 7-9, 2014 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
