Elon Softball Trio Named NFCA Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Elon University softball trio of Ali Ford, Lauren Oldham and Charyssa Parent were selected as 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I Scholar-Athletes as announced by the association on Monday, Oct. 7.

“I am very proud of this accomplishment for Ali, Lauren and Charyssa,” said Elon head softball coach Kathy Bocock. “It shows how committed each of our players are to being true student-athletes and the success they have in achieving those goals. I also want to thank Cayce Crenshaw, Adam Hatem and the rest of our academic support staff for the work that they do with our players.”

The award is bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2012-13 academic year. The honor marks the second component of the Association’s academic award program.
