ELON, N.C. – Don’t miss your first chance to see the 2013-14 Elon University men’s and women’s basketball teams at Late Night with the Phoenix, to be held on Friday, Oct. 18, at Alumni Gym.
Late Night With the Phoenix celebrates the beginning of Elon basketball and gives fans the opportunity to check out both programs as they prepare for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
Admission is free with general admission seating. The event kicks off at 8 p.m. with doors set to open at 7:45 p.m. Both teams will be available to sign autographs following the conclusion of the event.
In addition to the traditional maroon and gold scrimmages, the teams will compete against one another in a three-person hot shot competition, along with two lucky fans in attendance.
Following the hot shot competition, three players from both teams and three fans will go head-to-head in relay-style Bojangles Dot Race, with the winning team giving fans with the corresponding colored dot a gift card from Bojangles.
The event will close with one student shooting a half court shot for the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 Southern Conference Tournament in Asheville, N.C. This year’s tournament is scheduled to begin on March 7.
The event will be video streamed live and for free on Phoenix All-Access.
Season tickets for the upcoming season are currently on sale and are the only way for fans to guarantee a seat in Alumni Gym this season. Opening Night for both teams is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8. The women begin action at 5 p.m. against Winston-Salem State with the men set to follow at 7:30 p.m. versus Washington & Lee. Both squads have home exhibitions scheduled as well. The women host Pfieffer on Nov. 2 and the men host Lynchburg on Nov. 4.
