Greensboro College Pride Men’s Soccer Tops Panthers 4-0

LAGRANGE, GA — The Greensboro College Pride men’s soccer team wrapped up a weekend sweep in USA South play by defeating LaGrange 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Greensboro got into the scoring column in the 23rd minute when Tyler Slaton received a ball from Earl Floyd and put it in the goal giving The Pride the lead at 1-0. Just two minutes later, Floyd added to his point total for the day with a goal of his own from Kyle Giscombe to extend their lead to 2-0. In the first half of play, Greensboro allowed only one shot.

Coming out of the half with a 2-0 lead, The Pride maintained their dominance of the game by tallying another goal in the 58th minute from Shaun Watt to extending the lead to 3-0. Greensboro would wrap up the scoring in the game, with a goal from Juan Vivaswith just six minutes to play, to put the lead at 4-0.

The Pride outshot the Panthers on the day 21-1, and held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. Logan Rohde earned his second consecutive shutout in goal for The Pride on consecutive days.

With the victory for Greensboro, they move to 8-4-2 on the season, and 4-2 in USA South play. Greensboro will return to action on next Sunday when they travel to Ferrum, VA to take on the Panthers of Ferrum. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
