LAGRANGE, GA — The Greensboro College Pride women’s soccer team continued surge of late, with a 2-1 overtime victory against the Panthers of LaGrange on Saturday.

The Pride would get the scoring started in the 10th minute of the game with a goal byMeghan Cole when the Panthers keeper misplayed a crossing pass from Melanie Ratonto put Greensboro up 1-0. The Panthers tied the game up just before the half as Rebecca Rensenhouse got the ball past The Pride keeper.

After the break, neither team could find the net, sending the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, this time it was Raton on the scoring end of things when she collected a through ball from Lauren Greensboro to put the game away.

Greensboro held a 12-7 advantage on shots in the game, with Meghan Cole contributing a game high four shots. Erin Young, T’Keyah Henry, and Caitlyn Cook put one shot each off in the game. Jessica Thatcher collected the win for The Pride in goal, stopping four Panther’s shots.

With the win, Greensboro will move to 5-5-1 on the season, and 4-2-1 in USA South play. Greensboro will be back in action on Wednesday, when they welcome William Peace to Pride Field for a USA South match-up. Game time is set for 4 pm.
