Greensboro Men’s Soccer Defeats Huntingdon 4-0

HUNTINGDON, AL — The Greensboro College Pride men’s soccer team picked up a road conference victory against Huntingdon College by a final score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Greensboro got the scoring started in the 10th minite of the game when Drew Clukeyfound Craig Gage for the first of his two goals in the game to put The Pride up 1-0. Six minutes later, Greensboro found the back of the net again when Shaun Watt scored off of an assist from Scott Faytol to up the lead 2-0. The score would remain the same at the end of the first half with Greensboro leading .

In the second half, it was much of the same thing for Greensboro as Gage found the net again to push the lead to 3-0. The Pride continued to press the Hawks, and was finally able to break through again with just 30 seconds left in the game when Whit Maupincollected a ball from Juan Vivas and beat the Huntingdon keeper to make the final score 3-0.

The Pride outshot the Hawks in the game 19-5, and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Watt led Greensboro with five shots on the day with one goal, and adding one assist. Kyle Giscombe also contributed four shots in the game.

Logan Rohde got the start between the pipes for Greensboro and collected another shutout for The Pride.

Following the game, Coach Trice had this to say, “Road conference wins are tough at this time of the year. This group showed a professional nature today. It is key we continue this attitude tomorrow and finish with 6 points on the weekend.”

With the victory, Greensboro moves to 7-4-2 overall and 3-2 in USA South play. Greensboro will back in action on the road tomorrow afternoon against the Panthers of LaGrange. Game time is set for a 3:30 start.
